The Minor Arcana tells us about our day to day lives, where have you felt aligned with these messages?
The Minor Arcana
The minor arcana are the 56 cards in the Tarot deck that are numbered 1 through 10, and include the 16 court cards (pages, knights, queens and kings of all suits). These cards tell us about the details of our lives, where as the major arcanas discuss the more karmic, deeper aspects.
We do see patterns in these cards, each suit represents an element, and numbers often express similar parts of our lives. As with anything there are opinions about traditional meanings of the cards, and personal meanings. Like all things these evolve as our understanding of the human condition evolves. As you learn the cards, you also learn to trust your intuition. Each reader brings his or her flavor to the reading. Just as each yoga teacher teaches an asana slightly differently. The underlying meaning is there, just a different interpretation. We each take what we learn, and mix it in with our experiences, and offer a special understanding of the cards, and all divinatory arts and healings.
Briefly we have the Suits. Each representing an element and a part of our lives.
The Pentacles - Earth. They represent the spirituality in our life, our health, and finances.
The Cups - water and the fluidity of emotion, love and relationships. The cups are the container for all of these, you will notice in the cards there are often watery images.
The Swords - air and show us action, and how our minds work, think analytical-deep thinking. They often clear the way, and we can examine how our minds work with these cards. They also deal with how we communicate to the outside world.
Wands - fire, think of kindling. They represent our creativity, our fire, our ambition. How we manifest things into reality. Think of a fire cooking our food.
We can combine the knowledge of the suits with the numbers and extrapolate a lot of information, but remember to also look at the images, and listen to your intuition.

The court cards are something that brings up a lot of discussion
Where the confusion with these cards comes, is whether or not the court cards are an aspect of you, or someone in your life. Stay tuned for a blog and a class about this.
Developing a practice and a relationship with your deck is a great way to understand the stories the cards tell, and how when they are in a spread they interact to show us a big picture. Think of each card as a word, and the spread as the sentence structure. This all comes together to create the reading.
Like anything study and practice deepen our knowledge. Familiarity forms a bond.
Journaling about your experiences with the cards is recommended, pulling a card a day to really imbibe it’s meaning is helpful too, and for a deeper look at these cards click below for my class that can be emailed.
This class will be delivered to your inbox for 13 days.
