Tarot as a helper

Tarot as a helper

So how does this all work…Tarot. Tarot helps us to see things in ourselves that we may not be ready, or available to see. We see this with our meditation practice, at times when we quiet the mind we may have an ahah moment-a thought or answer that bubbles up. Tarot can help in the same way.

The images on the cards stir our memories and emotions, our minds can connect to them in ways that we do not connect to the written word. I recently asked a friend to say the first thing that popped into her head when I showed her the 6 of cups. She said comfort/happy memories/calm! Yup This card is often about simple pleasures, the innocence of childhood and that feeling. When I gave her that answer she said , what she had really thought about was her barbie house she loved! Chlldhood innocence at it’s finest.

So in our readings we are triggered-in a good way to remember, and to see what we need to. When we put these cards into a spread a story develops, as the cards relate to each other, and unwind the story. Think of the cards as the sentence and the spread you are using as the story that is being told.

One of the important ways to help this along is to form questions that are aimed at the information you need, that empower you and look at your energy. I liken this to our google home-we need to phrase things the right way, clearly, so we get the energy right and the answer (the story your spread is telling you) makes sense in the context of your question.

When reading for yourself sometimes the question may be “what do I need to know today” or “what energy is present today”.

Framing your question helps to decode the cards message

The conversation between the reader and the querant (the person being read) is also an important aspect of all of this too.

When we are using our cards for ourselves, we also want to be concious of this conversation with the universe and our own intution. Sometimes the answers are not what we want, or expect. But being open with ourselves, or our reader lead us to the answer and direction we need.
